IZZY’S EASTER NEWS LETTER
HAPPY EASTER
I can’t believe Easter has arrived, my last message was wishing you all a very happy New Year – The question is…. Have you been enjoying 2010 so far? I know back home in the UK you have been experiencing some cold days but I’m sure once snuggled up in the warmth of your homes you feel content. Here in Spain during the early winter months the majority of us have tiled floors making the house somewhat chilly. Its times like that I miss good old carpets!!! :-)
SOUTH EAST ASIA TOUR
Well, once again I have been a very busy Izzy in these last few months.
February 11th I flew to Hong Kong to join The Queen Mary II on it’s World Voyage. My concert was on Valentines Day and we celebrated in style, red hearts being the classic theme and a delicious chocolate fondue display at the strike of midnight! MMmmmm….
February 15th Chinese New Year – We arrived in Shanghai where they shared their celebrations with us. 2010 is the year of the Tiger – can you believe it, that is my year! I was born in 1975 January 24th – The Year of The Tiger!!! Lets hope lots of good fortune will come my way this year. I will keep you all posted!
February 17th I disembarked in Nagasaki and flew via Tokyo to Singapore. Tokyo covered with snow and Singapore being intensely hot hot hot! What a contrast!
February 19th I embarked The Azamara Quest (one of my favourites) I know a number of fabulously talented musicians in the band and the other guest entertainer on board called Yakov Noy. An amazing comedian/mime artist that not only has everyone in fits of laughter during his show but also manages to make people smile wherever he goes…….. Laughter is medicine for life and I felt on top of the world! If you are curious to learn more about this fascinating and beautiful man explore his website: www.threelegs.com
We sailed to Bangkok where I was fortunate enough to meet with an old friend now living there whom I used to teach singing. We then decided to explore the Night Bizarre Market full of wonderful delights! I got especially carried away with the little baby outfits as I am now officially an auntie Izzy and as you may be aware most of these clothes are originally made in Asia! I couldn’t visit Bangkok without experiencing the famous Tuk Tuk so we opted to be driven back to the port in a bright red tuk tuk! What fun… and a great way to dodge the traffic.
Hoi Chi Min City (Vietnam) What a great up and coming place! And the people are so warm and welcoming. February 26th we sailed up the Han River to what was originally known as Saigon and once again explored the wonders of Vietnam, their culture, history and delicious food.
February 27th I disembarked and flew on to Australia – Perth where it got even hotter (if that is at all possible!) I joined The Queen Mary II’s sister The Queen Victoria on it’s World Voyage where we sailed toward Malaysia. There I met and performed with an incredible guest entertainer by the name of Bettine Clemen – a delightful classical Flautist and more importantly a beautiful human being! We performed Eva Cassidy’s rendition of ‘Fields of Gold’ where the flute truly complimented the voice. Should you wish to learn more about this lovely lady explore her website: www.joyofmusic.com
March 7th I disembarked in Kota Kinabalu and flew back to London for a short stay to continue with my recording projects before returning to Hong Kong for my last leg on the exclusive Yachts of Seabourne The Odyssey
As you can imagine by then my jet lag was all over the place I didn’t know whether I was coming or going! But once again a successful trip and luxurious balcony suite to die for!!! (The perks of the job I guess!)
My final destination before returning home was Pataya, Thailand, a city of contrasts! From 5 star hotels to brand new shopping malls competing with small tourist shops & massage parlours running alongside the beach. The most depressing sight was all the hookers (renowned in Pataya) literally dozens of them were sitting or standing about looking quite surly, baring in mind this was in the middle of the day, I dread to think what it would be like at night!!! One of the most unusual experiences, which I had never seen before, was a 15 minute soaking of one’s feet in a tank of water inhabited by hundreds of little fish who have a fetish for feet and immediately attach themselves to your toes and wriggle around. It’s supposed to be very relaxing and certainly was quite pleasant albeit it a tad ticklish!
March 24th Home Sweet Home!!!
It’s good to be home for Easter with my loved ones, and on that note I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter. Should you wish to see some updated pictures of my adventures, I have added them in my Gallery.
Until the next update, take good care.
Besitos, Izzy x
